JGS Indonesia Opens Path for Two Junior Golfers to Reach International Level Through AJGA IPS Thailand 2026

Two Indonesian junior golfers, Michael Ethan Subandono and Rainier James Widjaya, have earned the opportunity to represent Indonesia at the Thailand Junior Championship 2026 - AJGA International Pathway Series (AJGA IPS).

Both athletes were delegated by The JGS Indonesia to participate in this tournament which will be held at Alpine Golf Resort Chiangmai, Thailand, on 14-16 August 2026.

17-year-old Michael Subandono and 16-year-old Rainier Widjaya are part of JGS Indonesia's initiative to provide international competitive experience for the junior golfers under its development program.

This opportunity to compete in Thailand also becomes an important milestone for both players to test their capabilities against junior golfers from various countries across the Asian region.

Qualified Through JGS Indonesia Development Tour Qualification Rounds

Michael and Rainier secured their spot at AJGA IPS Thailand after successfully passing the qualification series held at The JGS Indonesia Development Tour 1 in Pondok Indah, Jakarta, 17-18 June 2026.

This achievement paved the way for both players to bring their competitive experience onto the international stage through the AJGA International Pathway Series.

AJGA IPS is a tournament series that provides junior golfers a pathway to gain international competitive experience, while also opening access to official tournaments organized by the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA).

For young golfers who are building their career, this type of experience is a critical part of their game development process. Aside from honing technical skills, they will also be challenged to adapt to competition atmosphere, course conditions, and opponents with different playing characteristics.
