Rejected twice, Barcelona are still pursuing Rodri by submitting a third official offer to Manchester City.

Barcelona have not halted their pursuit to sign Rodri. After two of their proposals were rejected by Manchester City, the LaLiga giants are reportedly preparing a third offer to secure the 30-year-old midfielder.

As reported by ESPN, Barcelona have already reached a personal agreement with Rodri. However, the primary barrier remains that negotiations with Manchester City to bring the Spain international to Camp Nou are yet to find common ground.

Barcelona's two prior formal offers have not been enough to convince City to part with one of their most important players.

Manchester City are understood to have set an asking price of approximately £60 million for Rodri.

Rodri Returns to Manchester City Following World Cup Triumph

Amid ongoing transfer speculation, Rodri has reported back to Manchester City's training complex after captaining Spain to victory at the 2026 World Cup.

The City midfielder underwent a minor back procedure after the tournament concluded. Manchester City are hoping Rodri will commit his long term future to the club by signing a new contract.

However, Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has refused to rule out potential changes before the transfer window closes.

"First, the transfer window is still active. We remain able to buy or sell players, so absolutely anything could still happen," the Italian head coach stated.

This comment leaves all options on the table, including the possibility of Rodri departing the Etihad Stadium if Barcelona can finalise terms with Manchester City.

Maresca Provides Update on Rodri's Status

Maresca confirmed he had just met personally with Rodri following the midfielder's arrival back at the club training ground.

He stated Rodri is in good health following his minor back surgery.

"I just saw Rodri here at the facility and gave him a hug. He looks well. We will just have to wait and see what unfolds. We will also have plenty of time now to sit down and talk through everything," he explained.

Barcelona will need to take decisive, concrete action if they are to win the race for Rodri's signature.

While a personal agreement with the player is a significant advantage, Manchester City still holds full authority over the future of their star midfielder.

Barcelona must account for the minimum £60 million valuation. Should their third offer come close to this figure, negotiations for Rodri's transfer may progress into advanced stages.
