Indonesian tennis player Aldila Sutjiadi and her partner Erin Routliffe displayed calm composure handling critical points to advance to the women's doubles round of 16 at the 2026 Cincinnati Open.

Per official WTA records, Aldila/Routliffe eliminated the pairing of Asia Muhammad (United States) / Fanny Stollar (Hungary) in straight 7-5, 7-5 sets. The match ran for 1 hour 46 minutes, held in Cincinnati, USA on early Monday WIB, 17 August 2026.

This victory was not secured through statistical dominance. Instead, the match remained tightly contested throughout, with both pairs holding multiple opportunities to seize control of play.

In the opening set, Aldila/Routliffe only converted one out of three available break points. They still closed the set 7-5 however, after Muhammad/Stollar failed to capitalise on most of their own chances, converting just two out of six break point opportunities.

The same dynamic played out in the second set. Aldila/Routliffe earned seven break point chances and successfully converted three to take the set once again at 7-5.

Notably, Muhammad/Stollar actually posted a marginally better break point conversion rate in this set: they turned four out of nine opportunities into points for 44.4% efficiency, while Aldila/Routliffe recorded 42.9% conversion from their seven chances.

These numbers carried little weight once the match entered its decisive closing phases however. Aldila/Routliffe maintained controlled play and closed out victory at the end of both sets.

Overall, both pairs finished with an identical 40% total break point success rate. Aldila/Routliffe converted four out of 10 total opportunities, while Muhammad/Stollar converted six out of their 15 chances.

On serving statistics, Aldila/Routliffe recorded four aces and four double faults across the match, while Muhammad/Stollar posted two aces and three double faults.

Ultimately, this win for the Indonesia-New Zealand pairing reflected superior pressure management, rather than any clear on-paper statistical advantage.

This result extends Aldila's positive momentum, following her WTA 500 DC Open doubles title in Washington earlier that August and subsequent round of 16 finish in Toronto. The Cincinnati tournament forms a key preparation stage ahead of the end-of-season tour schedule.

Aldila/Routliffe will face the pairing of Liang En-shuo (Taiwan) and Shuko Aoyama (Japan) in the round of 16.

This upcoming fixture will be the next test for the partnership.

Having secured their opening round victory through composure on high-stakes points, they will need to replicate this same quality once again to progress deeper into the 2026 Cincinnati Open.
