Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) will face two European giants, Barcelona and Manchester City, during the league phase of the 2026/2027 UEFA Champions League. Real Madrid meanwhile will be paired against Inter Milan and Arsenal.
The 2026/2027 Champions League league phase draw was held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco on Thursday evening WIB. The draw ceremony was hosted by UEFA General Secretary Giorgio Marchetti, alongside football legends David Villa and Thierry Henry.
A total of 36 clubs were sorted into four pots based on UEFA club coefficient rankings. As defending champions, PSG was placed in Pot 1 alongside Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Inter Milan, Manchester City, Arsenal, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid.

PSG Drawn Against Barcelona and Manchester City
The draw results will see Les Parisiens face both Barcelona and Manchester City as two of their eight total league phase fixtures.
PSG will host Barcelona at home, before travelling to the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City. The meeting between PSG and City is set to be one of the headline fixtures of the opening phase.
Alongside Barcelona and Manchester City, PSG will also face Aston Villa, Villarreal, AS Roma, Galatasaray, Slovan Bratislava, and Como.
Manchester City Also Drawn Against Barcelona
Manchester City will face not just PSG, but also Barcelona during the league phase.
This means all three elite European clubs will meet each other right from the opening stage of the competition. PSG will play both Barcelona and City, while City will also go up against Barcelona.
This three-way clash between the continental heavyweights has emerged as one of the biggest talking points for this Champions League season.
Apart from travelling to face PSG and Manchester City, Barcelona will also take on Aston Villa, Sporting CP, Galatasaray, Feyenoord, Como, and Sabah.
Real Madrid Face Inter And Arsenal
Spanish giants Real Madrid also received a difficult draw.
Los Blancos will go up against Inter Milan, Arsenal, and AS Roma. The most decorated club in Champions League history has also been paired with PSV Eindhoven, RB Leipzig, LASK, Shakhtar Donetsk, and AEK Athens.
Arsenal also avoided no easy path. The Gunners will face Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, alongside Borussia Dortmund and Napoli. Their remaining four opponents are Lille, Real Betis, Slavia Prague, and Sabah.
Who Will Manchester United Play?
Returning to the Champions League this season, Manchester United are scheduled to face Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, AS Roma and RB Leipzig. The Red Devils will also play Sporting CP, Villarreal, Como, and Sabah in their remaining four fixtures.
2026/2027 Champions League Format
The 2026/2027 Champions League retains the new 36-team league phase format. Every club will play eight matches against eight different opponents.
This format has scrapped the traditional four-team group stage system used in previous editions.
Following the completion of all eight matches, the top 8 ranked clubs in the league standings will qualify directly for the Round of 16.
Clubs finishing in positions 9 through 24 will contest two-legged playoff ties to compete for the remaining eight Round of 16 spots.
Teams placed 25th to 36th will be eliminated from the competition immediately.
This structure means every single league phase fixture carries significant weight. Elite sides will not only be required to win their high-profile matches, but also avoid dropping points against lower ranked opponents.
