Marc Marquez Dominates FP1, Marco Bezzecchi Secures Top Position in Aragon Practice.

Marc Marquez got the 2026 Aragon MotoGP weekend off to a positive start after setting the fastest time in Free Practice 1. However, the Spanish rider was unable to hold on to the top position once the main Practice session commenced.

During the Practice round at MotorLand Aragon Circuit, Alcañiz, running late Friday WIB, the Ducati Lenovo rider had to settle for third place, beaten by Marco Bezzecchi and Alex Marquez.

Bezzecchi finished as the fastest rider with a recorded lap time of 1 minute 45.455 seconds. Alex Marquez took second place just 0.010 seconds behind, while Marc Marquez ended the session 0.038 seconds off Bezzecchi's benchmark.

Marc Marquez Briefly Led The Practice Session

Marc Marquez initially showed his pace to claim first position with a lap time of 1 minute 46.320 seconds. He successfully held the top spot at both the 35-minute and 25-minute remaining checkpoints of the session.

Bezzecchi gradually closed the gap. The Aprilia rider moved up into second place, trailing Marc by only 0.161 seconds.

The competition intensified when Fermin Aldeguer jumped to first place with 15 minutes left on the clock.

Marc responded immediately, and two minutes later reclaimed the top spot with an improved lap time of 1 minute 45.493 seconds.

Gresini Racing rider Alex Marquez also joined the fight, briefly moving into second place just 0.273 seconds behind his older brother.

Bezzecchi Turns The Tables In The Final Two Minutes

The defining drama unfolded with only two minutes remaining in Practice. Bezzecchi improved his lap time to 1 minute 45.455 seconds, knocking Marc off the leading position.

Marc dropped down to second place, while Fabio Di Giannantonio briefly occupied third and Alex Marquez sat fourth at this point.

But Alex was not finished. In the final seconds of the session, he bettered his own lap time to surge up into second place.

The Practice session concluded with an extremely tight final classification: Marco Bezzecchi (1:45.455), Alex Marquez (+0.010 seconds) and Marc Marquez (+0.038 seconds).

With such tiny margins separating the riders, the 2026 Aragon MotoGP Practice session ranks as one of the closest timed sessions of the entire race weekend so far.

Marc Marquez Previously Topped Free Practice 1

Practice results marked a clear shift from the earlier Free Practice 1 running. Marc Marquez had finished as the fastest rider in FP1, posting a lap time of 1 minute 47.532 seconds.

He finished ahead of Trackhouse Racing's Raul Fernandez in second, who recorded a 1 minute 47.567 second lap, with Marco Bezzecchi taking third place.

Marc led FP1 right from the opening laps and maintained his position at the front. Alex Marquez had briefly sat behind his older brother before Bezzecchi took over second place.

Raul Fernandez closed in during the final minutes of FP1, but was unable to displace Marc from the top of the timesheets.

This FP1 result gave Marc solid momentum heading into the subsequent critical sessions of the weekend.

Battle Between The Marquez Brothers And Bezzecchi Heats Up

The shift in standings between FP1 and Practice confirms that competition at Aragon remains completely wide open.

Marc Marquez has not lost any of his race pace. He remains inside the top three, and finished just 0.038 seconds behind Bezzecchi.

However, Bezzecchi has demonstrated he is a serious contender this weekend, further boosted by the fact that MotorLand Aragon has historically suited the Italian rider's riding style.

Alex Marquez also showed strong pace to take second place, meaning the top three positions in Practice were locked out by Bezzecchi and the Marquez brothers.
