Youth and Sports Minister (Menpora) Erick Thohir stated that sport plays a critical role in encouraging the Indonesian public to lead healthier, more active lives. This vision will be realised through the Milo Activ Indonesia Race (MAIR) 2026 Jakarta International 10K, which will be held at the Gelora Bung Karno Complex, Jakarta on Sunday, 13 September.

This running event is projected to be one of the largest mass-participation sports gatherings. Approximately 25,000 participants will compete across four categories: 10K Open, 10K Closed, 5K, and 2.5K Family Run.

For Erick, this high level of public participation demonstrates that sport can become an integrated part of daily routines, while also serving as a vehicle to build healthier lifestyle habits.

“Realising a healthier, more active Indonesian society through sport requires strong collaborative efforts across all stakeholders," Erick stated during a press conference at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Office in Jakarta.

He expressed hope that synergy between the government, private sector, community groups, and the general public can continue to be strengthened, in order to build an increasingly inclusive, sustainable sports ecosystem that delivers positive impact for Indonesia.

MAIR 2026 Upholds the Spirit of Sport For All

The MAIR Jakarta International 10K follows on from the successful series of previous events held in Yogyakarta, Medan, Bandung and Surabaya, which collectively attracted over 25,000 participants.

Jakarta will host the next edition on a larger scale with an international profile. A key highlight of MAIR 2026 is the 10K Open category, which is open to both Indonesian runners and international participants.

The presence of international athletes means the MAIR Jakarta International 10K course will not only serve as a competition venue, but also as a meeting space for people from diverse backgrounds who share a passion for running.

Held to coincide with National Sports Day celebrations, MAIR 2026 reinforces its core message: inviting people of all ages and backgrounds to make sport an integral part of their lifestyle.

Strengthening Jakarta's Position as a Sports Destination

The MAIR Jakarta International 10K carries a broader mission. Beyond increasing public participation in sport, hosting this event is also intended to cement Jakarta's status as a dynamic international host city for major sports events.

The race route acts as a meeting point for sport, local communities and urban activity. By bringing together local and international runners, this event provides Jakarta with the opportunity to showcase its capacity to host world-class sporting events.

Running community activist Shanada Jzen noted that bringing together runners from all walks of life is one of the core appeals of the MAIR Jakarta International 10K.

“I hope more and more people will be inspired to start running, and make sport a permanent part of their daily lifestyle," said Shanada.

Integrated with the Indonesia Sports Summit 2026

The MAIR Jakarta International 10K series will also be linked with the 2026 Indonesia Sports Summit (ISS) through the Race Pack Collection (RPC) event. The RPC will be held during the ISS 2026, and will serve to build public excitement ahead of race day.

The Race Pack Collection is designed to strengthen connections between runners, sports communities, and all involved stakeholders.

Registrations for the MAIR Jakarta International 10K are open online. Full details regarding race categories, registration fees, and participant requirements are available via the official event channels.
