The 2027 Not Hot List curates 10 little-visited destinations across the globe that currently see low tourist volumes, but are projected to break into mainstream travel in 2027.

This list was compiled with input from Intrepid Travel's network of local guides and destination experts based around the world.

Selected destinations were evaluated for their relatively low tourist crowd levels, adequate supporting infrastructure, and emerging or growing unique appeal that positions them to become popular travel choices in the coming years.

1. Samburu National Reserve, Kenya

Kenya's Samburu National Reserve takes the top spot on the list. This protected reserve offers a far quieter safari experience compared to the famous Maasai Mara.

One of its biggest draws is the chance to spot the Samburu Special Five: reticulated giraffes, Grévy's zebras, Somali ostriches, East African oryx, and gerenuk antelope.
