Persija Requests the PSSI Disciplinary Committee to Objectively Process Allegations of Discrimination Against Shin Tae-yong.

Persija Jakarta has chosen to follow official regulatory procedures in response to alleged discriminatory actions against their coach Shin Tae-yong during the 2026/2027 Super League fixture against Java United.

Persija management has entrusted the full resolution process for this matter to the Disciplinary Commission of the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI Disciplinary Commission). The club, nicknamed the Kemayoran Tigers, expects the alleged discrimination case will be examined objectively based on all available facts and evidence.

"Persija believes that every incident can be processed objectively based on facts and evidence collected from the match venue," stated the official press release published by Persija Jakarta on Tuesday.

These discrimination allegations surfaced following the match between Persija and Java United at Kapten I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Gianyar, Bali on Saturday 19 September 2026. Persija came away with a 1-0 victory, but post-match public attention quickly shifted to events that unfolded near both teams' dugouts.

Tensions briefly broke out along the touchline. Footage that circulated on social media later appeared to show Java United Technical Director Achmad Resal Oktavian directing discriminatory remarks towards Shin Tae-yong.

In the circulated recording, the official is heard stating "You are only a foreigner here. This is my territory", directed at the South Korean head coach.

The video clip spread rapidly across social media and sparked widespread attention from Indonesia's football community. However, the full context and preceding conversation that led to this exchange has not yet been fully verified.

Persija has refused to draw premature conclusions regarding the alleged violation. The club has opted to hand over the entire process to the PSSI Disciplinary Commission to review the incident against established facts, evidence, and applicable disciplinary regulations.

This step also ensures the incident will be resolved through the official formal mechanism for Indonesian football. Persija hopes the investigation will produce a complete and accurate account of everything that occurred near the team benches during the match.

For Persija, the final match result was not the only priority following their win over Java United. The club intends to ensure all off-pitch issues are handled through proper official procedures, so that every involved party is given fair opportunity to present their facts and evidence regarding the incident.

By referring this matter to the PSSI Disciplinary Commission, Persija has reaffirmed its commitment to abiding by official competition regulatory mechanisms.
