Eugenia Diva Wins Bronze, Indonesia Competes in 15 Sports at the 2026 Asian Games Today

Nagoya, Japan – Indonesian wushu athlete Eugenia Diva Widodo secured a bronze medal at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. Eugenia finished third in the women's changquan event after a tightly contested competition that went down to the final performance at the Aichi Prefectural Martial Arts Hall on Monday, 21 September 2026.

Eugenia recorded a score of 9.706 points, only 0.007 points behind Hong Kong athlete Sham Hyl, who claimed the gold medal with 9.713 points. The silver medal went to Macau athlete Sou Cho Man, who scored 9.710 points.

This marks Eugenia's first ever Asian Games medal. At the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, she only managed to place 6th in the competition.

Briefly Led The Standings

Competing as the fourth athlete to perform, Eugenia briefly held the top position on the scoreboard immediately after completing her routine.

She was awarded 5.00 points for movement quality, 2.706 points for overall execution, and 2.00 points for difficulty level, bringing her total score to 9.706 points.

Her leading position was then overtaken by Sou Cho Man, who posted a score of 9.710 points.

The tight competition continued right until the final competitor took the floor. Sham Hyl subsequently recorded 9.713 points to claim the gold medal, pushing Sou Cho Man down to silver position.

"I am really satisfied with today's match. I managed to deliver everything that I have been training for all this time," Eugenia stated after the competition.

According to Eugenia, the contest was extremely close as the score gaps between every competing athlete were very narrow.

"The competition was really tight, the scores are separated by tiny margins, and every single athlete competing here is a world champion," she added.

Met Pre-Game Target

Eugenia confirmed that this bronze medal aligned exactly with the target that had been set for her ahead of the competition.

She expressed hope that her achievement in Aichi-Nagoya will be the first step to make even greater contributions for Indonesia in future international events.

"I hope this will be the start for me to be able to contribute more for Indonesia," Eugenia told Antara news agency.

Fellow Indonesian wushu competitor Andrea Simon did not manage to reach the top rankings, finishing in 12th place with a total score of 9.603 points.

One day prior, Seraf Naro Siregar had already won Indonesia a bronze medal in the men's changquan event with a score of 9.720 points.

Indonesia Competing Across 15 Sports

Eugenia's medal was won on a busy day for the Indonesian contingent on Monday 21 September 2026.

On this same day, Indonesian athletes were scheduled to compete across 15 different sports, held across the Aichi, Tokyo and Gifu competition clusters. Events ran from early morning through to late evening.

Alongside wushu, Indonesian representatives were also scheduled to appear in soft tennis, karate, shooting, basketball, swimming, hockey, mixed martial arts, indoor volleyball and beach volleyball.

Soft Tennis And Karate Fixtures

In the Aichi competition cluster, soft tennis featured multiple Indonesian competing pairs.

Mixed doubles pair Rizky Zammy Febrian Laluyani / Alif Nafiah were drawn to face representatives from Chinese Taipei and Pakistan. Meanwhile, Fernando Sanger / Siti Nur Arasy were scheduled for matches against athletes from Laos, Cambodia and Japan.

In karate, Indonesia fielded athletes in both individual and team kata events.

Komang Sudarnita, Ni Ketut Maharani, Muhammad Negara, Christopher Edbert Setiabudi and Cindy Marcrasputri Citra were listed on Indonesia's karate roster. They were scheduled to face opponents from Sri Lanka, Japan, Singapore, Republic of Korea, Qatar and Bahrain.

Basketball And Shooting

Basketball also featured on Indonesia's competition agenda for the day. The women's full-court basketball team was scheduled to face China in Group A, while the women's 3x3 basketball team would take on Singapore and South Korea.

In the shooting competition, Anang Febrian, Fathur Gustafian and Kanurian Al Ghosh were set to compete in the men's 10 metre air rifle team event.

Yemima Natalia Sinaga represented Indonesia in the women's skeet event.

Other events taking place in the Aichi cluster on this day included mixed martial arts, indoor volleyball, beach volleyball, full-court basketball and 3x3 basketball.

Swimming And Women's Hockey

Multiple Indonesian swimmers were scheduled to compete in the Tokyo cluster.

I Gede Siman Sudartawa and Jason Donovan Yusuf entered the men's 50 metre backstroke event. Flairene Candrea Masriani Wolf competed in the women's 50 metre backstroke.

Jason Donovan Yusuf and Samuel Maxson Septionus were also entered in the men's 50 metre freestyle. Adelia Chantika Aulia competed in the women's 200 metre freestyle, while Arya Adrean Putra Haryono took part in the men's 100 metre breaststroke.

Indonesia also fielded a team in the men's 4x200 metre freestyle relay event.

Meanwhile over in the Gifu cluster, the Indonesian women's hockey team was scheduled to face India in their Pool B match at the Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium.

Wushu Adds To Indonesia's Medal Tally

With Eugenia's bronze medal, Indonesia's total medal count stood at six following the day's events, consisting of one silver and five bronze medals.

Two of these medals came from the wushu competition, won by Seraf Naro Siregar and Eugenia Diva Widodo respectively.

For Eugenia, this Aichi-Nagoya bronze is far more than just another medal. It represents her first ever Asian Games achievement, earned through one of the tightest contested competitions in the women's changquan event.
