Trump Will Attend the 2026 World Cup Final In Person and Present the Champion's Trophy.

United States President Donald Trump is confirmed to attend the 2026 World Cup final match between Spain and Argentina at New Jersey Stadium on 20 July WIB. Trump's attendance has become one of the main highlights ahead of the pinnacle fixture of the world's largest football tournament.

This final will be Trump's first in-person appearance at a match venue throughout the entire 2026 World Cup. His presence also marks the conclusion of the first ever World Cup hosted across three nations: the United States, Canada and Mexico.

White House Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt stated that Trump's attendance reflects the successful execution of the tournament by the United States as host of football's most prestigious global event.

"The President's presence will cap off what has been the most watched, safest, and most successful World Cup in American history," stated White House Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt, as quoted from The Guardian.

Leavitt added that Trump's attendance serves as the perfect closing symbol for this globally followed tournament.

"This is the fitting conclusion for a tournament that has demonstrated America's capability to host the world on the biggest international stage," she stated.

Prior to attending the final match, Trump is scheduled to attend an official FIFA event at Trump Tower, New York on 18 July WIB.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino had previously announced that Trump would attend the final match and present the championship trophy to the winning team. This plan was only formally confirmed by the White House recently.

Despite not making any in-person stadium appearances during the earlier stages of the tournament, Trump's name repeatedly drew public attention throughout the 2026 World Cup.

One notable instance was when Trump revealed he had personally requested FIFA President Gianni Infantino to review the red card issued to United States striker Folarin Balogun, which the player received during the match against Bosnia.

Following the official review, FIFA revoked Balogun's one-match suspension, clearing the striker to play for the United States against Belgium in the Round of 16.

Even with Balogun eligible to play, the host nation still suffered a heavy 1-4 defeat in that match.

Plans for Trump to present the World Cup trophy have also reminded the public of a controversial moment that occurred after the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup final.

At that event, Trump handed the trophy to Chelsea captain Reece James, but remained standing on the winner's podium while the squad celebrated their title.

The incident sparked widespread public discussion, particularly after it was revealed that Trump later kept a replica of that Club World Cup trophy in his office.
