Indonesia as Host, How Much is the Champion's Prize Money for the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026?

The 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup is not merely a new stage for Southeast Asian football competition. This tournament, scheduled to run from 24 September to 4 October, also offers a major prize for the winning team.

The champion of the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup will receive a prize of 1 million US Dollars, equivalent to approximately 17.8 billion Indonesian Rupiah.

The Indonesia National Football Team is confirmed as one of the participants, and will also host matches for the Premier Division. The highest tier competition of this tournament will be held in Jakarta and Bandung.

The competition format for the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup was previously outlined in an official release from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).

Out of 12 ASEAN member associations, Australia is the only member that has opted not to participate in the tournament.

Two Divisions, Pathway To The Finals

FIFA has split all participating teams into two separate divisions: Premier and Challenge. Team allocation is determined based on each nation's position in the FIFA World Rankings.

The six highest ranked AFF member nations in the FIFA rankings will be placed in the Premier Division. To increase competitive quality, FIFA has invited two additional Asian nations, bringing the total number of teams in this top division to eight.

These eight teams will be divided into two groups. Each team will play three group stage matches to determine their final group standings.

The top placed team from each group will qualify directly to the grand final match to compete for the tournament championship title.

Meanwhile, the Challenge Division will be contested by the five lowest ranked AFF member nations in the FIFA rankings plus one invited guest nation. These six teams will be split into two groups of three teams each.

Every team in the Challenge Division will play two group matches. The group winners from each group will then face each other in the Challenge Division final match.

The entire Challenge Division competition is scheduled to be hosted in Hong Kong.

The 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup will be held during the official FIFA International Match Calendar window, meaning all participating nations will be eligible to field their full strongest squads.

For the Indonesia National Team, host nation status provides a distinct advantage. Home crowd support across Jakarta and Bandung will deliver extra motivation as the squad fights to secure top position in their group.
