Neymar's future has once again become a topic of discussion as the former Barcelona star's contract with Santos nears its end. The Brazilian player is reported to be considering a new venture in Major League Soccer with Inter Miami.

Neymar only has four months remaining on his contract with Santos. This situation has sparked widespread speculation, including rumours that he may retire from professional football entirely due to his age and extensive injury history.

However, former Brazil international Felipe Melo has shared conflicting information. According to details he received from third party sources, Neymar is instead setting his sights on a move to the United States.

"Not long ago I spoke with a contact, and they informed me that Neymar will leave Santos to join Inter Miami this coming January," the former Juventus and Inter Milan defender stated.

If the transfer is completed, the 34-year-old will once again line up alongside his two former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

The trio previously played together at Barcelona, while Neymar and Messi also shared a dressing room again later at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

A huge new football story could unfold should Neymar finalise his move to The Herons.

Since signing Messi in 2023, this MLS club has become a gathering point for multiple former Barcelona players, including Luis Suarez.

Neymar's arrival would make this reunion particularly special, reuniting all three members of the legendary attacking combination famously known as the MSN trio.

Across their time together at Barcelona, Messi, Suarez and Neymar scored a combined total of 364 goals in all competitions. This trio of South American forwards established themselves as one of the most devastating attacking lines in modern football, with their pace, creativity, finishing ability and on-pitch telepathy perfectly complementing one another.

Suarez joined Inter Miami in January 2024, and has since signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2026 season.

With Messi and Suarez still core parts of the club's long term project, the rumour of Neymar arriving in January is already shaping up to be one of the most high profile transfer stories of the upcoming window.

At time of writing, no official confirmation regarding this potential transfer has been released by Neymar, Santos or Inter Miami.

Even so, Felipe Melo's leak has brought back to life the possibility of a reunion that for many years existed only as nostalgic fantasy for Barcelona supporters.

Should Neymar indeed leave Santos and select MLS as his next destination, global football audiences will get the chance to watch Messi, Suarez and Neymar take the field together once more.

Not at the Camp Nou this time, but in the United States, with the chance to write an entirely new chapter for the iconic MSN trio.
