Good news for tourists planning to visit Mount Bromo. The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Central Agency (TNBTS) confirmed that the Bromo tourist zone will be reopened on Thursday 20 August 2026 at 00:01 WIB, after forest and land wildfire response operations were declared fully completed.

This reopening was implemented after TNBTS Central Agency conducted full monitoring and post-fire condition evaluation across the area. Safety of both visitors and on-duty personnel was established as the primary consideration before restoring tourist access.

Rudijanta Tjahja Nugraha, Head of TNBTS Central Agency, stated that this decision has been formalised in an official announcement letter issued on 19 August 2026.

"After reviewing all safety aspects for visitors and field staff, the Bromo area is opened for tourist visits starting Thursday, 20 August 2026 at 00:01 WIB," Rudi stated.

This tourist zone reopening is documented under Official Announcement Letter Number: PG.19/T.8/TU/HMS.01.07/B/08/2026.

Mount Bromo Tickets Are Now Available For Booking

Parallel to the area reopening, Mount Bromo visitor tickets can already be reserved via the official website bromotenggersemeru.id.

Despite the prior full closure, no adjustments have been made to the daily visitor quota. TNBTS Central Agency retains the maximum limit of 2,752 tourists per day.

This reopening concludes the full entry point closure enforced for the Bromo zone starting Saturday night, 8 August.

At that time, wildfire escalation had required all tourist activities to be suspended, both to support firefighting operations and protect visitor safety.

The five previously closed tourist access routes were Cemorolawang in Probolinggo Regency, Wonokitri in Pasuruan Regency, Jemplang and Coban Trisula in Malang Regency, as well as Senduro in Lumajang Regency.

All these access routes are now being prepared again to receive tourists.

Tourists Advised To Remain Vigilant For Fire Hazards

Even though the Bromo zone has been reopened, TNBTS urges tourists not to treat this reopening as justification to ignore safety regulations.

All visitors are required to comply with field staff instructions, maintain cleanliness and ecological integrity of the park, and refrain from any activities with potential to ignite fires.

Tourists are strictly prohibited from building open fires, improperly discarding cigarette butts, or leaving behind any items that can act as an ignition source.

If visitors detect smoke, embers or any other signs of fire, they are requested to report this immediately to on-duty personnel.

"We must all cooperate to protect this area, so that this fire incident will not repeat," he stated.

This advisory carries critical importance, as the Bromo zone has just recovered from a wildfire event that required intensive emergency response. For this reason, visitor compliance will be essential to maintain ongoing safety at this destination.

Wildfire Fully Extinguished After 13 Days Of Operations

The wildfire across the Mount Bromo zone was fully contained and extinguished within 13 days, following the initial outbreak on Monday 3 August.

Response operations involved personnel from multiple parties: Ministry of Forestry officers, Indonesian National Armed Forces, National Police, national disaster agency BNPB, regional disaster agency BPBD, local governments, partner organisations, volunteers, local communities, and tourism service operators.

"We extend our sincere gratitude to every party involved in this wildfire response: Ministry of Forestry personnel, TNI, Polri, BNPB, BPBD, regional governments, partners, volunteers, local communities and tourism operators," he stated.

With the official reopening of the Bromo zone, tourists may once again plan visits to one of East Java's most popular natural tourist destinations.
