Touching Farewell Message from Rodri to Manchester City After Joining Barcelona

Rodri has officially concluded his long tenure with Manchester City and embarked on a new adventure with Barcelona. Even as he now represents the Blaugrana, the Spanish midfielder has confirmed that Manchester City will always hold a special place in his life.

Rodri delivered his farewell message after Barcelona finalised his permanent transfer from Manchester City for a fee of 60 million euros, approximately equivalent to 1.2 trillion Indonesian Rupiah.

In his final message for the club he had represented since 2019, Rodri stated that the emotional bond he shares with City will never be broken.

"My heart will always be tied to this city and this club," Rodri stated via Manchester City's official platform on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old noted that his seven year journey with Manchester City was filled with every kind of experience, ranging from landmark successes through to difficult periods.

He expressed pride at having been part of the squad that built one of the most successful eras in the entire history of Manchester City.

"Both the club and I are proud of everything we built together, and that is the context behind my decision," stated Rodri.

Nevertheless, this departure does not mark the end of Rodri's connection with the club and the city of Manchester. He stressed that the club's blue colours will forever remain part of his identity.

"My heart will stay blue for the rest of my life. And this club can always count on Rodri for anything they may ever need," he added.

Seven Trophy-Laden Years

Rodri joined Manchester City from Atletico Madrid in 2019. From that point onwards he developed into the central anchor of Pep Guardiola's midfield unit.

His elite match reading ability, talent for maintaining team balance, and control of match tempo made him one of the most pivotal players behind Manchester City's sustained success across recent seasons.

With The Citizens, Rodri was part of a historic trophy-winning generation at the club. His influence only grew as Manchester City established themselves at the peak of domestic and European football.

"Trophies, victories, hard times, the nights at the Etihad, and above all else every single person that made this journey so special," Rodri wrote in a public message posted to his official Instagram account @rodrihernande16 on Wednesday.

Rodri also paid respect to his teammates, coaching staff, club personnel, and the Manchester City supporters.

He stated that the welcome and warmth he received at Manchester City made the club feel like a true home.

"It is never easy to say goodbye to a place that has given me so very much," he said.

For this reason, his move to Barcelona will not erase his past. Instead, Rodri will carry all of these memories with him as he faces the next challenge of his professional career.

"Thank you Manchester City, for everything. I will always hold this club inside my heart," he concluded.
