Ronaldinho has once again captured the attention of the global football world after arriving in Italy to join Ravenna. The Brazilian legend joins the Serie C club carrying great enthusiasm to once again experience the atmosphere of competitive matches.

The former Barcelona, AC Milan, Flamengo and Paris Saint-Germain star landed at Forli Ridolfi Airport, Forli on Thursday 20 August local time. Ronaldinho arrived via private jet as the first official step of his tenure with Ravenna.

The arrival of the 46-year-old marks a surprising new chapter. While Ronaldinho has been absent from professional football for many years, this move now opens the possibility for him to return to official competitive matches.

"I cannot wait to dance with the ball again. Football has always been my greatest source of joy, and I am so excited to bring that spirit to Ravenna. Let's start the magic!" stated Ronaldinho.

Ronaldinho Ready To Feature For Limited Minutes

His age has been the core reason behind public questions regarding Ronaldinho's role at Ravenna. However, the Brazilian has made clear his presence will not be limited to ceremonial duties only.

Ronaldinho confirmed he is prepared to take the pitch in official matches for a number of minutes. Following each appearance, he will assess how his physical condition responds to the demands of competitive football.

"Yes, that is correct! I will play for Ravenna. You could say this is a new challenge for me. I will play some minutes in official matches, then we will see how my body holds up," he told Flashscore.

This statement opens the door for one of the most compelling comeback stories in modern football. Ronaldinho has been completely absent from professional level football ever since his original retirement.

Ravenna Vice President Ariedo Braida also did not rule out this possibility.

"He will be officially registered with our club. Will he play? We will just have to wait and see, but this is absolutely not off the table," he added.

With this confirmation, the possibility of seeing Ronaldinho step back onto the pitch in full match kit is now firmly open.

Comeback After Eight Years Away

Should he officially feature for Ravenna, this will mark Ronaldinho's return to competitive football after years away from the professional game. He formally announced his full retirement in 2018, while his final official professional match appearance came with Fluminense back in 2015.

Following his retirement, Ronaldinho made appearances in several exhibition futsal events in India before fully stepping away from active playing duties.

Now, football has called him back once more.

At the peak of his career, Ronaldinho was widely regarded as one of the most entertaining players of his generation. He possessed exceptional technical ability, creativity and a mesmerising style of play that won over millions of fans worldwide.

Across his entire club career, Ronaldinho recorded 699 total appearances with 266 goals scored. He lifted numerous major trophies with elite clubs including Barcelona, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Gremio, Flamengo and Atletico Mineiro.

His greatest international success came representing Brazil, as Ronaldinho was part of the squad that lifted the 2002 FIFA World Cup trophy.

Now, almost two decades after he stood as one of the most feared and most beloved footballers on the planet, Ronaldinho is opening the door to return to the pitch once again.

For Ravenna, the arrival of this legend means far more than just a famous name. Should Ronaldinho take to the pitch for official matches, this Serie C club will receive unprecedented global attention.
