Not every journey has to end at a summit. There are times when after spending long enough chasing higher ground, the best way to experience nature is simply to follow the flow of water.
That is exactly what Syafira, ITSMe Reporter, did on this trip.
At around 07.00 WIB, Syafira departed from the ITSMe office in Sentul, Bogor Regency, heading towards the Gunung Salak Endah tourist area in Pamijahan District. On this occasion, she was not just targeting one waterfall. There were three destinations she planned to explore: Kondang Waterfall, Balong Endah, and Pangeran Waterfall.

Approximately two hours after leaving the starting point, the adventure began.
Her first stop was Kondang Waterfall, also known as Ngumpet 2 Waterfall. Multiple travel sites refer to this location by these two different names, even though they refer to the exact same spot. This waterfall sits within the Gunung Salak Endah area, surrounded by untouched natural scenery and dense, shady trees.
At this spot, it felt like the journey had found its first proper pause.
The sound of rushing water drowned out the noise of traffic. The air grew noticeably cooler, and the lush green landscape surrounding the waterfall made the long trip from Sentul finally feel worth it.
Kondang Waterfall was never just a checkbox to mark off on an itinerary. It was the opening act of the journey — a place to catch one's breath before moving on towards the next destination.
From there, Syafira continued her trip towards Balong Endah.
Administratively, Balong Endah is registered as part of the Gunung Salak Endah Pasir Lenyit tourist zone, located along Curug Pangeran Road, Pamijahan District, Bogor Regency. This site is already well established as one of the natural tourism destinations in the region.
But for Syafira, the appeal of Balong Endah had nothing to do with its name or official location.
It was the water.
When conditions are clear, the water is so transparent that the entire bottom of the natural pool is perfectly visible from the surface. After only observing water from the bank at the previous stop, this time Syafira stepped right in.
She swam.
Nestled within the green expanse of Gunung Salak Endah, Balong Endah gave permission to slow the journey right down. There was no summit to race towards. No targets that needed to be hit. For a little while, the trip was nothing more than cool water, surrounding trees, and fresh mountain air.
Once she had finished swimming and grabbed a light snack, the journey resumed.
The final destination was Pangeran Waterfall.
This waterfall is also located within the Gunung Salak Endah area, Bogor Regency. This region is famous as a natural tourism spot, home to multiple waterfalls and natural swimming pools open for visitors.
While the two previous stops had each offered their own unique experience, Pangeran Waterfall held one simple, unmistakeable surprise: the temperature of the water.
"Wow, this water is really cold," Syafira remarked.
This was not just a brief passing chill. It felt exactly like swimming directly inside melted ice.
This was where the three-waterfall journey reached its conclusion.
Kondang Waterfall, or Ngumpet 2 Waterfall, had opened the trip. Balong Endah had given the experience of swimming in perfectly clear water. And Pangeran Waterfall closed it all, with that shock of cold that hit the second skin touched the water.
Three waterfalls. Three distinct experiences.
But perhaps the most important thing about this whole trip was not how many destinations were successfully visited.
It was what the journey taught you: to stop, just for a little while.
Travelling from Sentul to Pamijahan, Syafira was not chasing a mountain top. She was simply following the water, moving from one stream to the next.
And as it turned out, that was more than enough to make a good story.
Because adventure is never only about how high you manage to climb.
Sometimes, adventure begins the moment you choose to walk downwards, go close to the water, and let nature write the story for you.
