Persija vs Persib will be held in Jakarta with spectators permitted, here are the match schedule and applicable official provisions.

The classic derby between Persija Jakarta and Persib Bandung for the second matchweek of the 2026/2027 Super League will be held in Jakarta with spectator attendance permitted. The fixture will take place at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) on Saturday, 12 September at 15.30 WIB. 

This match is one of the most anticipated fixtures of the season, driven by the long and historic rivalry between the two clubs.

"Yes, it will be hosted in Jakarta," stated I.League Chief Executive Officer Ferry Paulus following a press conference for the 2026/27 Indonesia Women's League held in Jakarta on Tuesday.

During the previous season, Persija was denied authorisation to host their home fixture against Persib within Jakarta.

That match was ultimately relocated to Segiri Stadium in Samarinda, where Persib claimed a 2-1 victory over Persija.

Persija vs Persib Returns With Spectator Access

Ferry confirmed that this season's Persija vs Persib derby will be held with supporters allowed inside the stadium.

"Of course there will be spectators. Fans will be permitted to attend," he added in response to questions regarding match attendance arrangements.

That said, it is expected that away supporters will be excluded from attending this upcoming fixture. 

Ferry clarified that this policy is standard practice for Indonesian football competitions. He noted that high-tension rivalry fixtures such as matches between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya also implement similar attendance restrictions.

If held as scheduled, this match will be the first time Persija has hosted Persib in Jakarta since July 2019. The last meeting between the two sides at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw.

Persija's Request Influenced Match Scheduling

Ferry explained that the decision to place the Persija vs Persib fixture on the second matchweek was made partially in response to a formal special request submitted by Persija.

For this season, I.League has implemented a system to accommodate club requests during competition calendar drafting, an approach adopted from scheduling mechanisms used by major international football leagues.

"All scheduling work completed for this season uses systems adapted from top tier competitions including the Premier League, J.League and other major global leagues," stated Ferry.

Clubs were given opportunity to submit specific requests related to the match schedule, with all submissions evaluated and ranked by priority level during calendar finalisation.

"We communicated this process three months in advance. For example, clubs could request to schedule home matches on their official anniversary date. All requests that could be aligned with the fixed competition timeline have been accommodated," he added.

However, not all club requests could be approved, as the competition calendar must also account for multiple other operational and regulatory factors.

"Naturally we cannot grant every single request. If we receive 5, 10, 20 or 30 submissions it is impossible to fulfil all of them. Instead we assess every request and rank them by priority, addressing the highest impact requirements first," he concluded.

Persija and Persib Will Complete Opening Matchweek First

Ahead of facing each other in the Indonesia Derby, both Persija Jakarta and Persib Bandung will first play their opening fixtures of the 2026/2027 Super League season.

Persija will begin their campaign with an away fixture against Borneo FC on 5 September. The following day, Persib will kick off their season by hosting PSM Makassar.

After concluding their first matchweek fixtures, full focus for both clubs will turn to Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium. The 12 September Persija vs Persib fixture will not only be a clash between two of Indonesia's biggest football institutions, but also serve as the first major benchmark for both teams' readiness for the new season.
