Manchester United fell to a 2-4 defeat against AC Milan, with the Rossoneri putting on a ferocious, outstanding performance throughout the second half.

AC Milan put on an impressive performance in their 2026/27 pre-season friendly, beating Manchester United 4-2 at Wrocław Stadium, Poland on Saturday 15 August 2026.

The Rossoneri found themselves on the back foot after falling behind twice during the match. However, Milan responded with great resolve to turn the game around, netting goals through Samuel Chukwueze, Alphadjo Cisse, Gonçalo Ramos and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

This fixture also carried special significance for Ruben Amorim. It marked the first time the manager had faced Manchester United since the English club parted ways with him back in January 2026.

United Strike Early Before Milan Stage Fightback

Manchester United came out of the blocks with full intensity right from kick-off. With just two minutes on the clock, Bruno Fernandes swung a dangerous corner into the box which was met perfectly by a powerful header from Harry Maguire.

The ball flew past Lorenzo Torriani who could do nothing to stop it, as Manchester United opened the scoring to take a 1-0 lead.

Milan looked to react immediately. Ruben Loftus-Cheek went close to scoring in the 8th minute, before threatening again six minutes later. Both chances were successfully kept out by Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens.

Late in the first half, United were awarded an opportunity to double their advantage from the penalty spot, after Koni De Winter was judged to have fouled Youri Tielemans inside the area.

Bruno Fernandes stepped up to take the spot kick, but the Portuguese midfielder struck his effort towards the right side of goal which Torriani read correctly to push the ball away.

This missed penalty proved to be the turning point. Shortly afterwards, Milan found their equaliser through Chukwueze, who finished off a cutback from Gonçalo Ramos after the forward broke down the left flank.

The 1-1 scoreline held until the half time break.

Milan Dominate Second Half Turnaround

Manchester United retook their lead shortly after play resumed. In the 51st minute, Patrick Dorgu capitalised on a misplaced backpass from a Milan defender to put United 2-1 ahead.

Once again, Milan showed their comeback mentality. Just six minutes later, Cisse fired home to bring the sides level once more at 2-2.

Milan grew in confidence and aggression after drawing level. Chukwueze delivered another vital contribution in the 68th minute, sending an accurate cross deep into the penalty box.

Gonçalo Ramos met the delivery with a well-placed header that left Lammens rooted to the spot. The ball hit the back of the net, as Milan turned the game on its head to take a 3-2 lead.

Milan did not ease off the pressure. Four minutes later, Loftus-Cheek extended their advantage to 4-2.

Picking up possession on the right wing, Loftus-Cheek dribbled into the penalty area before unleashing a fierce drive towards the near post that Lammens was unable to react to in time.

Manchester United pushed hard to pull a goal back in the closing stages of the match. However, an inspired performance from Lorenzo Torriani saw the young goalkeeper prove himself as one of Milan's standout performers, protecting their lead right until the end.

Every dangerous chance United created was denied by Torriani, as the final whistle blew.

AC Milan secured the 4-2 victory, a result that will give the squad a huge injection of confidence as they prepare for the full start of the 2026/27 competitive season.
