Arsenal kicked off their 2026/2027 Premier League campaign with a 3-0 victory over Coventry City at the Emirates Stadium, London, on Saturday. Kai Havertz opened Arsenal's scoring account and also netted the very first goal of the new Premier League season.
The Gunners' remaining two goals were scored by Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard. This result places Mikel Arteta's side at the top of the provisional league table. Meanwhile, Coventry sit at the very bottom of the standings with 0 points.

Arsenal took attacking initiative right from the opening minutes. Bukayo Saka created an early threat, but his shot was blocked by Coventry's defence.
Arsenal's sustained pressure paid off in the 15th minute, as Kai Havertz converted a delivery from Riccardo Calafiori to put Arsenal 1-0 ahead.
This strike marked Arsenal's opening goal, as well as The Gunners' first goal of the entire 2026/2027 Premier League competition.
Coventry attempted to mount a response, but Arsenal retained full control of the match flow.
In the 23rd minute, Saka doubled the home side's advantage after latching onto a loose rebound inside the Coventry penalty area.
Arsenal closed out the first half holding a comfortable two-goal lead.
Odegaard Completes Arsenal's Victory
As the second half commenced, Arsenal did not shift their approach. Arteta's side continued to press aggressively against Coventry's backline, and they were rewarded with another goal in the 49th minute.
Martin Odegaard got on the scoresheet after finishing off a cutback pass from Ben White, extending The Gunners' lead to 3-0.
After the third goal, Arsenal controlled the game even more comfortably. Coventry meanwhile struggled desperately to find space to build any meaningful attacking moves.
The 3-0 scoreline remained unchanged until the final whistle, securing a perfect opening match win for Arsenal in the 2026/2027 Premier League season.
For Arteta, this result marks a strong positive start to Arsenal's Premier League campaign.
