Who is Allan Elias? He is the Palmeiras winger who has now officially been announced as Manchester City's new recruit.

Manchester City have not simply added one more name to their summer transfer recruitment list. The arrival of Allan Elias from Palmeiras raises a far more compelling question: just how far can this 22-year-old Brazilian winger progress under Enzo Maresca?

City officially confirmed Allan's signing on Monday, 31/08/2026. He has signed a five-year contract running until summer 2031, though finalisation of his move remains pending international clearance.

Allan forms part of the squad overhaul taking place across Maresca's first summer as Manchester City manager.

Manchester City are reported to have paid approximately €40 million to secure Allan Elias from Palmeiras. The 22-year-old put pen to paper on a five-year deal that will keep him at the club until summer 2031.

From futsal in Florianópolis to the Etihad

Allan Andrade Elias was born in Florianopolis, southern Brazil. He began playing futsal at seven years old, before joining Figueirense's youth setup when he turned 14.

His path later led him to Palmeiras. The São Paulo based club scouted Allan during a youth tournament held in Minas Gerais. He moved to Sao Paulo alone shortly after, and was awarded the number 10 shirt for Palmeiras' academy teams.

His development did not follow the classic Brazilian wonderkid trajectory, where young talents explode into the spotlight while still in their teens. Allan had to wait, grow steadily, and prove himself at every stage.

Across his time with Palmeiras Under-20s, he scored 17 goals and registered 4 assists, before gradually working his way into the senior squad.

He made his professional debut in 2025. Since that point, Allan has made 96 first team appearances for Palmeiras, recording 9 goals and 14 assists according to official Manchester City data.

One of the performances that catapulted his reputation came during last season's Copa Libertadores.

Palmeiras suffered a 0-3 away defeat to LDU Quito in the first leg. In the return fixture, Allan played a central role in a dramatic 4-0 comeback victory. He was involved in the opening goal, before winning a late penalty that sealed the remarkable turnaround for his side.

This is exactly the type of contribution that appears to have caught City's eye: not just raw attacking ability, but the relentless drive to stay involved and impact games.

Not Just A Right Winger

By position, Allan has most frequently been deployed as a right winger. But his profile is far more versatile than that label suggests.

However, framing Allan as a direct like-for-like replacement for Savinho is an oversimplification.

Allan Elias himself has made no secret of his ambitions.

He described joining Manchester City as the proudest moment of his life. He noted he will always hold affection for Palmeiras, but believes this move to Manchester is the correct step to reach his full potential as a footballer.

Now comes the hard part.

Allan must convert that raw potential into consistent performances in the Premier League. He does not arrive as an established star, but as a promising young talent: versatile, with proven top flight experience at Palmeiras, and huge scope for improvement.
