Budget for the 2026 Asian Games National Training Camp has increased to Rp222 Billion, with Indonesia targeting 4 gold medals.

The government has increased budget support for Indonesia's preparations ahead of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. The national training camp budget has been raised to IDR 222 billion, after the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) received an additional IDR 95 billion in funding.

This budget increase provides impetus for sports federations to finalise their preparations ahead of the 2026 Asian Games. Prior to this latest top-up, Kemenpora had already adjusted the allocated budget from IDR 81 billion to IDR 127 billion.

"From the initial IDR 81 billion figure, we re-evaluated the budget allocation and raised it to IDR 127 billion for the Asian Games," stated Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir at the Kemenpora offices in Jakarta.

"The good news is we have now secured an additional IDR 95 billion for the Asian Games," he added.

With this latest addition, the total budget allocated for the 2026 Asian Games national training camp programme stands at IDR 222 billion.

The Minister confirmed this additional funding is final, as the countdown to Asia's largest multi-sport event continues to wind down.

"This is final, we only have one month left. For sports federations that had already begun preparations but were holding back due to uncertainty, we are now able to provide them with full support," Erick stated.

With budget certainty now confirmed, sports federations are expected to be able to carry out their preparation programmes at maximum capacity. Kemenpora will expedite the disbursement process once the Budget Implementation List (DIPA) documentation is finalised.

Erick confirmed that the disbursement process will not take long. The additional funds are targeted to reach all sports federations imminently, to ensure no disruptions to athlete preparations.

"The DIPA has already been notified. The disbursement process only takes one to two days. This will be completed either this week or next week," said Erick.

The IDR 222 billion budget is allocated specifically for national training camp operations. This amount does not include the separate IDR 61 billion that the government has prepared to cover costs for Indonesia's contingent deployment to the 2026 Asian Games.

"The IDR 222 billion is allocated exclusively for Asian Games training operations, plus an additional IDR 61 billion for contingent travel and logistics. We separate the training and deployment budgets for operational purposes, though they will be recorded under one unified account," he explained.

Erick has called on all sports federations and athletes to make full use of this allocated support to achieve Indonesia's performance targets at Aichi-Nagoya.

Indonesia has set a target of 4 gold medals at the 2026 Asian Games, projected to come from badminton, weightlifting and sport climbing.

"We are targeting four gold medals, primarily from badminton, weightlifting and sport climbing. There are also other sports that have strong silver medal prospects, with the possibility of also securing gold," Erick concluded.
