The Bogor Regency Government is developing the Nurul Wathon Grand Mosque area in Pakansari, Cibinong, as a religious tourism destination. The high number of visitors, especially on weekends, is one of the reasons this mosque complex will be equipped with various new supporting facilities.

Nurul Wathon Grand Mosque does not only function as a place of worship and religious activities for the people of Bogor Regency. Its presence has started attracting visitors from various surrounding areas outside Bogor, including Depok all the way to Cirebon.

Bogor Regency Regional Secretary Ajat Rochmat Jatnika stated that the high public interest in visiting this site proves the area has great potential to be developed as both a public space and a dedicated religious tourism destination.

This high visitor traffic has encouraged the Bogor Regency Government to prepare a more integrated development plan for the complex. Nurul Wathon Grand Mosque is expected to not only act as a center for religious activities, but also provide a meaningful immersive religious atmosphere experience for visitors.

"This will not only be used for religious study gatherings, but will also become one of the religious tourism destinations visited by people from various regions," he stated.

One of the facilities planned for development is the 99-meter high Tauhid Tower. The Bogor Regency Government is currently conducting technical assessments so that this tower can be safely accessed and properly utilized by visitors.

"Later we will design this tower properly so that it can be accessed and used optimally by everyone," he added.

Nurul Wathon Grand Mosque stands on 2.6 hectares of land within the Pakansari Stadium Complex. Its construction uses a budget of IDR 112 billion from the 2025 Bogor Regency Regional Budget.

In addition to the main mosque building and Tauhid Tower, this mosque complex is also equipped with a scaled Kaaba replica that can be used for Hajj ritual training. Various Kaaba-themed decorative elements also become part of the area's distinct identity.

The religious tourism development at Nurul Wathon will also be strengthened with plans to build a 7-storey Hajj and Umrah embarkation building. This project is scheduled to start construction in early 2027.

The Bogor Regency Government has allocated a budget of IDR 142 billion through the 2027 Regional Budget for this facility. The building concept is stated to be inspired by the Zamzam Tower in Mecca.

The tender process for the embarkation building construction is scheduled to start in December 2026, so that physical construction works can begin in January 2027.

With the presence of the Tauhid Tower, Hajj training facilities, and the upcoming Hajj and Umrah embarkation building, the Nurul Wathon Grand Mosque complex is projected to become one of the main religious activity centers as well as a leading religious tourism destination in Bogor.

This development also has the potential to add tourism options for visitors coming to the Pakansari area, while strengthening Bogor Regency's appeal as a region that successfully integrates public spaces, religious activities, and tourism.
