Awaiting the adventure of Eliano and Tijjani Reijnders in the 2026/27 AFC Champions League.

Two brothers from the Reijnders family will embark on a new adventure in Asian football for the 2026/27 season. Eliano Reijnders with Persib Bandung, and his older brother Tijjani Reijnders who is set to join Al Qadsiah, both have the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of Asian inter-club competitions.

Even though they will compete in different tier competitions, Eliano and Tijjani's journey this season presents a compelling story. Both players, who developed through the Dutch football system, will now bring their careers onto the Asian stage.

Eliano made the first move to Asia when he joined Persib Bandung last season. After building his career with PEC Zwolle including appearances in the Eredivisie, the 26-year-old player chose to continue his football journey in Indonesia.

Eliano was part of the Persib squad that won the BRI Super League title in his first season wearing the Maung Bandung jersey. In the 2025/26 season, Eliano recorded a total of 38 appearances for the Blue Prince side.

This season, Eliano is preparing to face new challenges with Persib. Alongside competing in domestic competitions, Persib will also feature in the AFC Champions League Two, the second tier Asian inter-club competition.

Tijjani Reijnders Leaves Manchester City for Al Qadsiah

Meanwhile, Tijjani Reijnders arrives with a different career path. The 28-year-old midfielder previously built his reputation in Europe playing for AZ Alkmaar and AC Milan, before joining Manchester City in 2025.

However, once Pep Guardiola's tenure at Etihad Stadium concluded and was replaced by Enzo Maresca, speculation began surrounding Tijjani's future at the club.

Al Qadsiah then emerged as the midfielder's new destination. The Saudi Arabian club is reported to have reached an agreement to sign Tijjani for a transfer fee of 61 million Euro, equivalent to approximately 1.25 trillion Indonesian Rupiah.

"Manchester City have agreed a deal with Saudi Arabian club Al Qadsiah for the transfer of Tijjani Reijnders," read the report from David Ornstein at The Athletic, published Thursday.

Should the process be completed, Tijjani's spell at Manchester City will come to an end after just one single season.

The Reijnders Brothers Take On Asia

At Al Qadsiah, Tijjani will join the squad managed by Brendan Rodgers, which finished in 4th place in the Saudi Pro League last season. He will also line up alongside established veteran players including Mario Retegui, Nacho Fernandez and Julian Weigl.

This move also opens the door for Tijjani to compete in the AFC Champions League Elite, the highest tier inter-club football competition in Asia.

On the other side, Eliano will represent Persib in the AFC Champions League Two, and is scheduled to face Manila Digger in the play-off round.

Despite competing at different competition levels, both brothers will live out this brand new experience, bringing the long journey of their football careers from the Netherlands all the way to Asia.
