Amri Syahnawi / Nita Violina Marwah are the only Indonesian representatives who advanced to the semi-finals of the 2026 BWF World Championships in New Delhi, India. This Indonesian mixed doubles pair defeated the 11th seeds from Taiwan, Yang Po-Hsuan / Hu Ling Fang, in straight games 21-18, 21-9 at the quarter-final stage.
This victory preserves Indonesia's chance to bring home the championship title. Meanwhile, four other Indonesian representatives were eliminated in the quarter-finals.
"Alhamdulillah, I feel relieved and grateful. The target assigned to us has been achieved, but this is not the end. We are not satisfied yet, we will give our absolute best tomorrow to secure a better medal standing," Amri stated in an official PBSI release.

Amri/Nita Recovered After Trailing Early
Amri and Nita's journey to the semi-finals was not an easy one. They fell behind at the first game interval as Yang/Hu set an aggressive fast tempo and applied pressure right from the opening of the match.
However, the Indonesian pair gradually found their game rhythm. After turning around the match momentum, Amri/Nita closed the first game with a 21-18 win.
They successfully maintained this momentum in the second game, securing a dominant 21-9 victory.
According to Amri, on-court communication was one of the critical factors that helped them perform under pressure.
"When one of us made a mistake, we never blamed each other. Instead we worked together on court to find solutions. Once we got the match playing pattern we wanted, we did not loosen our grip and stayed focused on every single point," he explained.
Nita also played a key role in the match turnaround. She adjusted to take more active control of the front court, while maximising her serves and service returns to neutralise the opponent's attacks.
"I made a lot of unforced errors at the start, but Amri's spirit and encouragement motivated me to perform better. I kept fighting to hold control of the front area, and we gained advantage through our serves and service reception," Nita added.
Alwi Farhan Eliminated At Quarter-Finals
In the men's singles draw, Indonesia's campaign ended after Alwi Farhan was defeated by 6th seed Chou Tien Chen from Taiwan. The 11th seeded Alwi lost in straight games 15-21, 15-21.
With this result, Indonesia no longer has any representatives left in the men's singles category. Jonatan Christie had previously been knocked out in the round of 16.
Fajar/Fikri Fail To Qualify For Semi-Finals
From the men's doubles sector, second seeds Fajar Alfian / Muhammad Shohibul Fikri suffered a disappointing exit.
They were beaten by Taiwanese pair Lee Jhe-Huei / Yang Po-Hsuan with scores 19-21, 16-21. This defeat ends Indonesia's chances of winning the men's doubles title at this championship.
Meanwhile in women's doubles, Rachel Allessya Rose / Febi Setianingrum could not produce their best performance against 12th seeds Li Yi Jing / Luo Xu Min from China, falling in straight games 13-21, 14-21.
Another Indonesian women's doubles pair, Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma / Meilysa Trias Puspitasari, also failed to progress past the quarter-final round. The 13th seeds were stopped by 3rd seeds Baek Ha Na / Lee So Hee of South Korea with scores 11-21, 11-21.
With all these results, Amri Syahnawi / Nita Violina Marwah remain the only surviving Indonesian representatives at the 2026 BWF World Championships.
