Cristiano Ronaldo is edging ever closer to one of the greatest milestones of his career. The Al-Nassr forward has now tallied 977 career goals after finding the net once again, requiring just 23 more strikes to hit the 1,000 goal mark.

Ronaldo's latest goal came during Al-Nassr's match against Al Riyadh. In the 83rd minute, the Portugal national team captain struck a close-range left-footed finish, converting a pass from teammate Ayman Yahya.

This goal brought Ronaldo's all-time official career tally to 977.

As it stands, CR7 is now only 23 goals away from the historic 1,000 goal record. This milestone stands as one of Ronaldo's biggest remaining ambitions before he permanently hangs up his boots.

23 Goals Is Not An Impossible Target

Scoring 23 goals across a single season is no unfamiliar challenge for Ronaldo. His proven goalscoring consistency over decades means this target remains entirely achievable, so long as he maintains his physical fitness and regular playing minutes.

The 2026/2027 campaign is set to be a critical period, as this marks the final season of Ronaldo's contract with Al-Nassr. He has also previously indicated this season may be the last of his professional career.

If he reaches the 1,000 goal milestone before the season concludes, Ronaldo will have the chance to retire with one of the most spectacular statistical achievements in the entire history of modern football.

Should he fall short of the 1,000 mark by the end of the season, it remains an open possibility that Ronaldo will extend his playing career to chase this target.

Ronaldo Also Aims To Deliver Titles For Al-Nassr

Alongside his personal pursuit of 1,000 goals, Ronaldo holds shared competitive targets with Al-Nassr.

Last season he operated as the club's primary goalscoring engine that carried Al-Nassr to the Saudi Pro League title. Now, Ronaldo is intent on leading his side to compete for silverware once again.

For this reason, every goal Ronaldo scores carries two meaning: each one closes the gap to his 1,000 goal milestone, while also serving as firepower for Al-Nassr's title challenge this season.

At 41 years old, Ronaldo's ability to continue scoring at elite level has become the defining narrative of the final chapter of his career.
