Initially left out of the preliminary list, Shayne Pattynama has finally been called up to the Indonesia National Team.

Shayne Pattynama has finally been included in the Indonesia national team squad for the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup. The Persija Jakarta defender received this late call-up after he was not listed on John Herdman's initial 23-man roster.

This news was announced by Persija via the club's official Instagram account on Monday. This call-up also increases the number of Macan Kemayoran players that will represent the Garuda squad in this tournament.

"Garuda Calling, Shayne. Shayne Pattynama has received a call-up to represent the Indonesia national team at the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup," Persija Jakarta wrote in the official Instagram post, as quoted in Jakarta on Monday.

Shayne's name was indeed absent from the initial national team squad announcement published via the official Garuda Instagram account on Friday (18/9).

At that time, Herdman had selected 23 players consisting of three goalkeepers, nine defenders, seven midfielders, and four forwards.

For the defensive line, the nine players initially named were Elkan Baggott, Dion Markx, Rizky Ridho, Justin Hubner, Kevin Diks, Nathan Tjoe-A-On, Yakob Sayuri, Dony Tri Pamungkas, and Dean James.

Following Shayne's addition through this supplementary call-up, Indonesia now has a total of 10 defenders in their squad.

Persija Sends Six Players To The Indonesia National Team

Shayne's inclusion also brings the total number of Persija players called up to the national team to six.

Prior to this, five Macan Kemayoran players had already been named in the squad: Nadeo Argawinata, Rizky Ridho, Jordi Amat, Dony Tri Pamungkas, and Rayhan Hannan.

Shayne's call-up is particularly notable as the player has not made a single appearance for Persija so far in the 2026/27 BRI Super League season.

Across Persija's first three matches of the campaign, the 28-year-old defender has not been registered in any matchday squad, as he remains undergoing injury rehabilitation.

Shayne's Most Recent National Team Appearance

Before receiving this latest call-up, Shayne last featured for Indonesia at the 2026 AFF Cup.

He played in Indonesia's 1-1 draw against Singapore at Jalan Besar Stadium on 7 August.

Now, Shayne has once again been given the chance to be part of the Garuda squad's campaign at the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup, with this call-up coming while he is still in the recovery process with his club.

Indonesia is hosting Division 1 of this tournament. Group A matches will be held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, while Group B fixtures will take place at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium.

Indonesia has been drawn in Group A alongside Malaysia, Singapore and Bangladesh. Group B meanwhile consists of Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam and Pakistan.

Under the competition format, the winner of each group will advance to the final match. The two group runners-up will face off in a third place play-off.

Both the final and third place play-off are scheduled to be held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium on 5 October.

For Shayne Pattynama, this late call-up opens up the opportunity to once again represent the Indonesia national team after being omitted from the initial squad list. His addition also provides John Herdman with extra defensive options as Indonesia prepares for the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup.
