Luke Vickery Can't Wait to Make His Debut at the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup, Indonesia National Team Squad is Almost Complete.

Head coach John Herdman's Indonesia National Team squad for the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup is nearly complete. A total of 21 players have assembled in Jakarta, including Luke Vickery and Maarten Paes who had previously been fulfilling match commitments with their respective clubs.

The Garuda Squad has entered a critical preparation phase ahead of their opening group stage fixture. Three players are still yet to join camp: Yakob Sayuri, Dean James, and Calvin Verdonk.

According to an official PSSI statement, the 21 players already present in Jakarta form the core of preparations for the tournament which will be hosted on home soil.

Alongside Vickery and Paes, the players who have reported to camp are Mitchell Baker, Thom Haye, Ragnar Oratmangoen, Jordi Amat, Egy Maulana Vikri, Rayhan Hannan, Dion Markx, Shayne Pattynama, Rizky Ridho, Nadeo Argawinata, Dony Tri Pamungkas, Ivar Jenner, Kevin Diks, Elkan Baggott, Ole Romeny, Emil Audero, Justin Hubner, Nathan Tjoe-A-On, and Joey Pelupessy.

Shayne Pattynama was added as a late call-up. The Persija Jakarta defender was summoned by Herdman on Sunday to complete the squad roster ahead of their Group A campaign.

Luke Vickery Excited For International Debut

Amid ongoing preparations, all eyes have turned to Luke Vickery. The Macarthur FC striker is set to make his first ever appearance for the Indonesia National Team, and has embraced this opportunity with clear enthusiasm.

Via Instagram Story, Vickery addressed Indonesian supporters, noting that this tournament marks the official start of his international career with the Garuda Squad.

"Hello National Team fans, this is going to be my very first tournament representing the national side," he shared.

Vickery has stated he cannot wait to take the pitch in front of home supporters, and hopes to deliver meaningful contributions if selected to play.

"I am ready to give absolutely everything to help this team lift the trophy," Vickery added.

Maarten Paes' Message For Indonesia National Team Supporters

Alongside Vickery, another player drawing significant public attention is Maarten Paes. The Indonesia national goalkeeper arrived in Jakarta directly after featuring for Ajax Amsterdam in their 2026/27 Eredivisie fixture against Excelsior.

Paes was named on the bench for that Sunday WIB match at the Amsterdam ArenA, which ended 2-2 with Marc-Andre ter Stegen starting between the posts.

Paes has now shifted his full focus to national team duties. He emphasized that fan support will be a make-or-break factor for the Garuda Squad throughout the group stage.

"This will be no easy campaign, especially against the quality opposition we have been drawn with. That is exactly why we need every single fan behind us, from the first whistle right through to the 90th minute," Paes stated, referencing the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup Group A Division 1 draw where Indonesia will face Malaysia, Singapore and Bangladesh.

This message also highlights the scale of challenge awaiting the squad. Indonesia will play three group fixtures under enormous pressure, with every match hosted at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium.

Three Indonesia National Team Players Still Awaiting Arrival

While the vast majority of the squad has already assembled in Jakarta, Herdman's preparations are not yet fully finalized. Yakob Sayuri, Dean James and Calvin Verdonk are yet to link up with their teammates.

Once these three players report, John Herdman's full squad will be complete. With most of the group already gathered, the head coach now has dedicated time to refine playing tactics, build squad chemistry, and finalize his preferred match lineups.
