Bayern Munich kicked off the 2026/2027 season by lifting a trophy. Die Roten successfully claimed the 2026 German Super Cup title after defeating Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in this Der Klassiker fixture.
The match was held at Signal Iduna Park, on Sunday 23 August 2026, early morning WIB. This victory completed Bayern's domestic trophy haul, after the club had previously won the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal last season.

Dortmund stumble as Bayern need just one point to clinch Bundesliga title.
Bayern Take The Lead First
Bayern Munich played aggressively right from kickoff. Their pressure finally paid off in the 28th minute.
Michael Olise delivered a pass to Nathaniel Brown. The player then fired a left-footed shot that Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel was unable to stop.
Dortmund managed to mount a response before the end of the first half. Ramy Bensebaini found the back of the net three minutes before halftime.
However, the goal was disallowed. Following a VAR review, the referee ruled Bensebaini had been in an offside position.
Instead of levelling the score, Dortmund conceded another goal during first half stoppage time.
Olise showcased his individual skill by driving into the penalty box. The French international then released a close-range shot which Kobel failed to react to.
Bayern ended the first half holding a 2-0 lead.
Dortmund Pull One Back
Heading into the second half, Dortmund increased their attacking intensity as they looked to overturn the two-goal deficit.
The home side's efforts finally paid off in the 75th minute. Fabio Silva struck a shot that took a deflection off a Bayern player.
This change in the ball's trajectory wrong-footed Manuel Neuer. The ball crossed the goal line, bringing the score to 1-2.
Dortmund pushed forward with greater confidence after reducing the deficit. Die Borussen continued searching for an equaliser right up until the final minutes of the match.
However, their task became far harder when Bensebaini was shown a red card in the 90th minute.
The Dortmund defender was sent off for a heavy challenge on Ismael Saibari. Being reduced to 10 men killed off Dortmund's momentum to catch up to Bayern.
The 2-1 scoreline in favour of Bayern Munich remained until the full time whistle.
Bayern Extend Their Trophy Haul
This victory over Dortmund confirmed Bayern Munich as the 2026 German Super Cup champions.
This trophy further underlines Bayern's dominance in German domestic football. Since the competition was renamed the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup, Bayern have now won 12 German Super Cup titles.
This total is far ahead of Borussia Dortmund, who have lifted the trophy on 6 occasions.
With this latest title, Bayern Munich have already reaffirmed their status as one of Germany's dominant football forces right at the start of the 2026/2027 season.
